Google Transliteration

Did you ever use the google labs!!? Google labs is host of many ongoing projects of Google. People can test the products or use them as kind of a beta version. But many are not aware of this feature. An eye catching and an interesting tool in google labs is the Google Transliteration. It helps us to type in english and transliterate it into other languages such as Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and many other foriegn languages too. The texpad has almost all the standard features like cut, copy, paste, print, undo, redo, text color, font size etc.

You can use Google transliteration by going to google labs. To type in telugu language, you can select the required language and type the word and then give a space to transliterate it Eg: Telugu తెలుగు .The transliteration feature is being used even in blogger, orkut, knol..

The most interesting features of the google transliteration are the dictionary and the unicode. Using the dictionary you can translate words in one language to other..(But do not expect it to work excellent as it is still in labs). As of now, it is working fine.. Using the unicode feature, we can select special characters and the normal characters too.

You can even download the google trasliteration IME, so that you can type documents offline in your language. Just download the IME and install it. You may be required to be online while installing the IME and the installion procedure hardly takes 10 minutes.

To type the content in your language, go to the language bar and change it from default(English) language to your language. Now you can type the write in your own language or even chat. You can use it both with the online applications as well as offline applications.
When I discuss the plus points of it, I need to discuss even the minus points of it too. I could not see support for fonts in the transliteration. When you type something, it always shows in a default font. I expect to see my content in some fancy fonts.
(If anyone of know how to add new fonts to the Google Indic Transliteration, please let me know)
